If you’re one of those people (like myself) who gets irrationally angry when strangers invade your personal space, this dress is for you.
According to the designer,
[The Robotic Spider Dress] uses proximity sensors as well as a respiration sensor to both define and protect the personal space of the wearer. Approach the wearer too aggressively and the mechanical limbs move up to an attack position.
In the realm of smart clothing and accessories, this is undoubtedly the greatest creation yet.
Of course, if you’re more of a people person, you can still take advantage of the frock’s features.
Wipprecht notes that if you “approach the system under calmer circumstance[s],” the faux-limbs can beckon one to come closer with “smooth, suggestive gestures.”
In other words, the dress can also function as an automated flirting mechanism, perhaps becoming a savior for the more shy folk.
No matter who you are — or the situation you’re in — this dress has got your back (and front).
