25 Year Old Mckenzie Cochran died after being allegedly suffocated by mall security in Southfield, Michigan. The incident occurred in January 2014, and news of his death has since resurfaced, as the events that unfold in the video seem eerily similar to those that of the tragic death of Eric Garner.
Cochran's case was very much like Garner's, as both were placed under arrest for being under a suspicion of committing a crime. Except for the fact that Cochran was detained by mall security who first engaged the subject with pepper spray that may have helped to cause breathing complications. While Eric Garner was engaged with the use of an inappropriate choke hold that the autopsy shows attributed to his death.
Where the videos grow even more in similarity is in the plight of the arrest victims. Both subjects yelled "I can't breathe" a number of times before being listed as deceased shortly after the incidents.
Neither of these incidents have produced indictments against the law officers attempting to arrest the now deceased suspects. But that is subject to change with pending federal investigations on these types of cases throughout the United States.
