Reporter Gets Insanely High Standing Next To Pile Of Burning Drugs

The BBC’s Quentin Sommerville was reporting next to a pile of burning drugs when he became so stoned, he broke into a laughing fit just five seconds into his introduction.

In a short clip reminiscent of Kevin Spacey in “American Beauty,” the Middle East correspondent addresses the setting and then starts giggling like a lunatic, forcing the cameraman to stop recording.

All he can manage to say before the high takes control is,

Burning behind me is eight-and-a-half tons of heroin, opium, hashish and other narcotics…

Sommerville tries to compose himself twice, only to begin laughing again as soon as he makes eye contact with the camera.

According to the Telegraph, Sommerville posted the video with the title “Don’t Inhale” on Twitter with the message,

Dear tweeps, it’s been a year of bullets & bloodshed. You’ve earned a xmas laugh, at my expense.

He was forced to take the video down because of a copyright problem soon after, but nevertheless, here it is.

A BBC spokesman told the Telegraph,

The video of Quentin corpsing, which has now been deleted, was posted in the spirit of a blooper. It was filmed four years ago — it hasn’t been seen before and was never broadcast.

Sommerville regularly risks his life while reporting in the Middle East, the Telegraph reports, and he was recently shot at while his news truck entered an Iraqi oil facility.
