Move over, Burger King. McDonald's has its own entry into the black burger competition.
Several McDonald's restaurants in Japan have released a black Squid Ink Burger, which costs $3.40
. Each burger has two patties, sandwiched between a bun dyed black with squid ink. Unlike the all-black Burger King model, the Squid Ink Burger has yellow cheese and fried onions on top.
To be honest, I dont really see the point. Burger King's black burger made a statement
, whereas this is just some goofy colored bread.
The burger is reportedly exclusively available at three Japanese locations
. It's half of a spooky, Halloween-themed promotional menu, which also includes an underwhelming camembert and chicken sandwich.
Next year, McDonald's needs to put in a better effort.
A shot of the Squid Ink Burger.
It has a rather unappealing black bun.
The balls in your court, Burger King.
