Now, this is a drive that even Happy Gilmore would be proud of.
Rory McIlroy teed up at the second round of the 2014 TOUR Championship yesterday and let one go on a 14th hole par-4.
Broadcasters noticed the ball bounced off the tree, but, upon arrival, it appeared that something more spectacular happened. It landed straight into the right pocket of one awkward fan's shorts. Not even Rory knew what to do.
A judge came in to assess the situation, and decided it would just be a drop. Luckily, the fan was allowed to fish out the ball himself and it was settled with a professional, man-to-man handshake.
McIlroy ripped the next shot and got the par. Crisis adverted.
