A future NBA Hall of Fame basketball player is joining the Miami police force.
Former Los Angeles Laker and Miami Heat player, Shaquille O'Neal, has applied to become a reserve police officer in Florida.
Miami Police confirmed 42-year-old O'Neal, who is just over 7 feet tall, enlisted to become an officer in the police force and won't get special treatment when it comes to his employment.
Christina Baguer, a spokesperson for the city, says he will still have to pass a fitness test and background check before he can be a part of the force.
After O'Neal retired from the NBA in 2011, he became a NBA TV analyst and even acted in a few cameo roles, including in the film "Grown Ups 2". This won't be his first stint as a police officer either, as he swore in as a reserve cop in Miami Beach in 2005.
This seems like an awesome next-step for the retired basketball star. Im guessing most criminals would drop dead in their tracks if they saw all 7 feet, 325 pounds of Shaquille O'Neal running at them.
