This video starring Dan Collins of KIKN 100.5 in Sioux Falls
, starts with him holding a pack of Walmart's "Great Value" Ice Cream Sandwiches. He describes a recent stir that these particular ice cream sandwiches have caused when a lady from Cincinnati noticed that they somehow weren't melting in warm temperatures over time. Dan puts the controversy to the test by placing the ice cream on a plate outside in warm weather himself.
First he puts the ice cream sandwich on a plate outside, and records the temperature at 78 degrees.
After 20 minutes of sitting outside in near 80 degree temperatures, Dan says there is no noticeable change in the ice cream sandwich.
After 35 minutes Dan notes there are no noticeable changes in the ice cream sandwich again, and places a bowl of "real" vanilla ice cream next to it to show the difference.
After 60 minutes, things start to get really weird. The ice cream sandwich seems to be oozing a tiny amount of liquid that does not look like melted ice cream.
Realizing that the ice cream sandwich would never melt Dan Collins ended the experiment. Hopefully this will help to make us all more mindful of the things we are buying to eat.
